What is a bruxism splint

A bruxism splint does not eliminate the cause – it protects teeth from damage while the cause is being identified and addressed. A custom-made occlusal splint acts as a shock absorber: it redistributes pressure, relieves muscle spasms, and unloads the joint.

Depending on the cause, splint therapy, physiotherapy, or botulinum toxin injections into the masticatory muscles may be prescribed.
